Newark Padel Centre - Full Planning Permission Granted for new sports facilities
Planning permission has been granted by Newark & Sherwood District Council for our application to transform a long-term empty brownfield site close to the town centre into a stunning new padel tennis complex. Located at the edge of Newark Industrial Estate and close to the Lincoln Road Sports Ground, the purpose-built development will include the installation of 4no. padel tennis courts, new parking and cycle storage.
The padel courts will be housed within a portal framed building with a domed roof, providing an all-weather covered playing area with internal floodlighting. Access to the site will utilise the existing site access from Whittle Close. A dedicated car and cycle parking area is included to the north of the site, providing 21no. car parking spaces and 8no. cycle parking spaces to promote sustainable transport choices.
New to Padel? Padel Tennis (Padel) is a form of tennis that is played mainly in a doubles format, on an enclosed court about a third of the size of a tennis court. The enclosures are formed from glass and mesh metal fence panelling and are fully transparent which allows spectators to enjoy the fun too. Padel Tennis is one of the fastest growing sports across continental Europe and has gained increasing popularity over recent years. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) have outlined ambitious plans to grow the sport of Padel with an initial focus placed on increasing infrastructure across the country.
